Makeup (Your Mind)

Posted by Guest Author on October 31, 2010

Welcome back! If you would like to comment, please register and give us your thoughts about articles on Basic Mineral Makeup. Thanks for visiting again!

Making your own decisions or falling for the hype?  We are bombarded everyday by the hype and fluff of big budget advertising and marketing campaigns for just about every product we buy…including mineral makeup.

There is so much of it that it’s hard to tell what we should really pay attention to…which is actually just what the hype is designed to do.  The Affordable Mineral Makeup Company doesn’t have big budget advertising and marketing campaigns, but it wouldn’t matter if they did…they just say it like it is:  they recommend using personal care and makeup products with no unnecessary, harmful or toxic ingredients…only healthy, pure ingredients and none that you don’t need…and that’s exactly what you get with pure mineral makeup from Affordable Mineral Makeup.

It’s easy at any age to be lulled into a trance by the promises of sexy, glamorous, Hollywood looks by using the ‘purest’ or ‘most refined’ makeup products…but read the labels…make sure you know exactly what you are getting for the extra money you are paying for all that marketing and advertising hype.

Now are you making your decisions to buy pure minerals based on the hype of international companies, or are you doing your research and making your own decisions?  Makeup!! Your Mind!

You Wouldn’t Want an Ox in Your Mailbox…Would You?

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on October 8, 2010

Swollowing Ox blood to improve your complexion? Burnt matches used to darken eyelids? Not so bad when you consider this next one…using the urine of young boys to fade freckles? And how about this? Queen Victoria hated makeup and associated it with prostitutes and felt it was vulgar for upper class society. She did however say that it was alright to use if you were an actor. Well golly gee and thanks Victoria.

Women have used cosmetics for thousands of years to enhance their looks. In the old testament Jezebel painted her eyelids and probably used minerals since Macy’s was probably not in the neighborhood. Even the book of Esther describes beauty treatments. And even today we call someone a Jezebel if she is overly made up.

If you’ve been reading my posts, you know how strongly I feel about using personal care products without all of the harmful, toxic, unregulated ingredients found in so many of them.  Researching the history of cosmetics and what women once used…weird just doesn’t quite cover it.

Can you imagine what women had to do to get some color on their faces?  Today we just shop on the web and get gorgeous mineral makeup delivered right to our mailboxes. Try doing that with an ox!  We, like in the days of old, have pure pure minerals to offer.  You should check us out. and be gorgeous!  Jezebels, indeed!

Teens: Please Use Makeup That Does Not Promote Acne

Posted by Guest Author on September 27, 2010

I read the most disturbing news report recently on CNN.com. In a new study conducted in Europe, the findings indicate a link between mental health problems and teens with problem acne. Nearly everyone has had some type of complexion or skin problem at some point in their life, but did you know that severe problems can be devastating psychologically…and peer pressure in our world can make it ten times worse….particularly as teens when you are really forming your self-image and self-esteem.

Now, I am naturally concerned about this for two reasons…obviously one of them is that my company specializes in irritant-free, chemical free mineral makeup without harmful ingredients like Bismuth Oxychloride…all of which helps reduce and prevent acne and other skin problems.

The other reason…if you’ve been reading our blog, you know that we are on a mission to inform everyone about using safer cosmetics and personal care products like ours. Many other personal care product manufacturers use ingredients that have already been banned for use in personal care products in the European Union. Many of those ingredients are in products you use on your face every day which can contribute to increased skin problems including acne.  And since the category is unregulated and ingredients often untested, there could be harmful ingredients in those products that do even worse things than exacerbate acne.

Please go watch the Story of Cosmetics video and find out more about this very important issue.

Makeup…What Does That Word Really Mean?

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on September 3, 2010

I am confused…we makeup after a fight, right?  This is a good thing…
If we get rained out we do a makeup game, right?  This is a good thing…
If we’re absent we have a makeup test, right?  This could be a good thing…
Don’t we makeup our bed?  This might be a good thing…
Don’t we make up stories?  Uhhh…maybe a good thing…
And don’t we apply makeup?

None of these things are bad for us…right? Wait a second…makeup?  How really weird that this word can have so many implications. I love it!   Many cosmetic companies just keep putting chemicals in their products…so there is bad makeup and good makeup.  I want to make (it) up to the whole world by letting you know there are good places to buy good, healthy and safe makeup. For real. Honest. Truly, and I am not making this up! Check out Affordable Mineral Makeup. The company that cares about you.  Really.

Merely A Mineral Makeup Madness?

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on September 2, 2010

Initially I thought I was buying a mineral makeup and cosmetics company.  You know, to keep myself out of trouble…build an empire.  I was particularly interested in the  Affordable Mineral Makeup Company because its mineral makeup products have no harmful ingredients.  Little did I know that once I started doing my research about makeup and cosmetics that I would become so appalled and really mad at how our health is not even a minute consideration to so many of the cosmetics companies.

So although I have had bouts of madness about things before, my newest madness is getting the word out about the potentially harmful chemicals in makeup and baby products.  And believe me, it is not merely a mineral makeup madness.  It is a major, full blown lunacy…but…it is devoted, intense and desperate.  Everyone needs to watch The Story of Cosmetics video to understand more about this important issue.  Wow, help me get the word out.  Can you?

Is Moderately Hazardous Makeup Like a Little Bit Pregnant??

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on August 11, 2010

If you go to the Cosmetics Database website and look up foundations, you will see an enormous amount of mineral foundations that are called ‘ONLY moderately hazardous’.  Good grief.  Moderately hazardous!  Of couse, Affordable Mineral Makeup is not one of these or worse.  We do not have, nor will we ever ever have anything that is called hazardous anything.

If there was a contest for the most moronic combination of words, I think this would be the winner.

Moderately hazardous. Hilarious! Well not hilarious… sad, disgraceful, disgusting, vile, horrible…well you get the idea.  I don’t mean to pick on Cosmetics Database.  They provide a very important service, and I applaud them, its just that the terminology really got to me.  But you could tell that, couldn’t you?  I have to go take a nap.   Arlene

Teenage Girls are not Paying the Mortgage

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on August 9, 2010

You got that right, teenage girls are not paying the mortgage.  So what are they doing with their money?  They buy clothes and makeup.

Do they know that the makeup they buy is loaded with chemicals and toxins?  No, they don’t.  So we need to tell them.   Maybe the years and years of using these toxic makeups  have contributed to our suffering breast cancer and other not so pleasant ailments.  We need to be asking teens, no begging them, to stop putting toxins into their bodies.  How do we get the word out?  How do we protect them?  It is astonishingly vile that cosmetic companies actually use harmful ingredients.  It is so beyond the boundaries of doing the right thing.

Get your teenager to start using chemical free makeup.  Start right here…have them watch The Story of Cosmetics…it’s an important message that everyone should see.   Affordable Mineral Makeup is putting together a place on our site just for teenagers.  We will have an educated teen spokesperson to help spread the word to teenagers.  Enough of letting these big cosmetics companies sweet talk us while offering a poisoned apple. Enough. Enough. Enough.
