How to shop for mineral makeup

Posted by admin on January 28, 2009

Not all mineral makeup is the same.
Some companies use bismuth oxychloride in them, which can irritate some skin. Others have a long list of chemicals, fillers and other ingredients that aren’t needed nor good for your skin.

You’ve probably seen the mineral makeup infomercials late at night or the inserts in the newspaper. Perhaps you’ve seen mineral makeup at the mall, kiosks or in department stores. Now, mineral makeup is even available in regular stores like Target, CVS, etc. However, make sure to read the ingredients. Make sure there aren’t a lot of chemicals, parabens, fragrances and other harmful ingredients in them. The less ingredients, usually the better off you are.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a tween, teen, twenty or fifty year old or anything in between or beyond that. Mineral makeup has it’s benefits for your skin.

Mineral makeup can come in loose mineral form or pressed form. It glides on any skin type and is extremely versatile.

Because of the zinc oxide in mineral makeup, most mineral makeups offer an SPF which can protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays. The iron oxide can help with acne and preventing break outs. Mineral makeup is excellent for girls and women of all age, as long as you shop and buy mineral makeup without fillers, chemicals, irritants.

Shop wisely and check labels, see if the company is recognized as being cruelty free, or signers of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics. You should also read reviews about the products and/or the company if possible. Do your research before purchasing, because all mineral makeup is not made the same.
