Teenage Girls are not Paying the Mortgage

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on August 9, 2010

You got that right, teenage girls are not paying the mortgage.  So what are they doing with their money?  They buy clothes and makeup.

Do they know that the makeup they buy is loaded with chemicals and toxins?  No, they don’t.  So we need to tell them.   Maybe the years and years of using these toxic makeups  have contributed to our suffering breast cancer and other not so pleasant ailments.  We need to be asking teens, no begging them, to stop putting toxins into their bodies.  How do we get the word out?  How do we protect them?  It is astonishingly vile that cosmetic companies actually use harmful ingredients.  It is so beyond the boundaries of doing the right thing.

Get your teenager to start using chemical free makeup.  Start right here…have them watch The Story of Cosmetics…it’s an important message that everyone should see.   Affordable Mineral Makeup is putting together a place on our site just for teenagers.  We will have an educated teen spokesperson to help spread the word to teenagers.  Enough of letting these big cosmetics companies sweet talk us while offering a poisoned apple. Enough. Enough. Enough.

Kid in a Candy Store

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on August 8, 2010

Well today being a rainy day, hmmm, what could I do to amuse myself? I got it! Yep, I will play with the make up.  Smokey eyes?  Pixie eyes?  Innocent eyes?  Not so innocent eyes?  My poor face is red from cleaning off and reapplying. A little shimmer, not much, just a little from the Metallic Rose blush.  Great color.  Seriously, it is absolutely like being a kid in a candy store. Some of the colors did not work well with my skin tones and I think I scared my cat when I put on too much green concealer.  So glad I bought this mineral makeup company instead of a company that sells widgets. After all, what are widgets anyway? And do I need one? And do they come in colors?

OK, So Now I’m a Blogger!

Posted by Arlene Sherman, President on July 13, 2010

Hello Everybody:

Well, it is said you always remember your first, so I will remember this! I am delighted with the overwhelming response to the emails that were sent out about me. Thank you all so much for your encouragement, your comments and your orders. I had no idea that such a response would happen and I want to thank each and every one of you. I love being in a business where I have an actual hand in the beauty of my “fellow” females.  This blog will also be used by the wonderful makeup artist that is coming on board. He lives in Beverly Hills and I live in South Florida so we are pretty far apart.  We are making our plans for him to come here to spend some time with me so we can start our plan to be the best mineral makeup company. Period. We are psyched and rarin’ to go. With your help and the kind of support I see out there, how can we possibly miss?    With Warmest Regards, Arlene

Benefits of Using Mineral Makeup

Posted by Administrator on May 22, 2010

Mineral makeup has many benefits…that’s why the popularity of mineral makeup continues to rise. Women have found that their makeup can now help their skin and work with it rather than being harmful for it (like many chemical based cosmetics can be).

From a purely aesthetic viewpoint, women are going for a more natural look and with mineral makeup you can easily achieve that.  Mineral makeup gives excellent coverage, while still looking natural and real, not caked on.

Mineral makeup doesn’t clog your pores, so helps keep your skin clearer and healthier.  In hot & humid states (like we are here in FL), mineral makeup feels light and doesn’t feel heavy or feel like your face is melting through the day.

Mineral makeup is multipurpose, shades can be used for a wide variety of things-foundation, blush, eye shadow, highlighter, can be used on lips, nails too.

Affordable Mineral Makeup doesn’t contain potentially harmful ingredients or unnecessary ones that are often found in other commercial brands.  You want to stay away from fillers, talc, chemicals, artificial colors & dyes, and preservatives.

As you can see here, the ingredients that are used in Affordable Mineral Makeup are:

  • Titanium Dioxide also has waterproof and SPF properties while providing a matte look.
  • Mica has some transparent properties and allows the makeup to go on smoothly.
  • Iron Oxides give the makeup its pigment and helps protect your skin.
  • Zinc Oxide is known for its healing properties in problem skin such as rosacea and acne, it has the ability to stay on even while sweating and swimming, as well as offers protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

If you haven’t tried mineral makeup, give it a try now!

Gluten free

Posted by Administrator on January 5, 2010

I bet when you hear the term “Gluten Free”, you don’t automatically think of your makeup, do you?
Well, if you’re gluten sensitive you may want to. Makeup can have gluten in it.

What is gluten sensitivity?
Read here for more information.
The symptoms are usually skin rashes, itchiness, headaches, bloating/cramping. Gluten is very hard to digest and can be found in wheat, rye, barley and oats.

Gluten can be found in your makeup and other beauty products in the Vitamin E, Olive Oil, Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Oats and Triglycerides are all sources of gluten that most people wouldn’t think about when purchasing makeup and body products.

Vitamin E is used as an antioxidant and is usually derived from wheat germ. Products that contain oils in them are usually preserved with Vitamin E to prevent them from going rancid. They can also be hidden in such oils as Olive Oil, Palm Oil and Coconut Oil.

Oats are another common ingredient commonly used in beauty products, such as soap and facial products.

If you are gluten sensitive you need to be aware of these ingredients that most people may overlook in cosmetics or body products.

There’s no definitive information regarding cosmetics, body products being harmful to those who are gluten sensitive but think about this…your skin is the largest organ of your body. It usually absorbs what you put on it and thus goes into your body system. So, that would suggest that if you’re gluten sensitive you might have reactions (skin rash/itchiness) from products that contain gluten additives.

Mineral makeup that has no additives, oils and is in loose powder form is gluten free, such as the minerals offered at AffordableMineralMakeup.com
